Slipknot: Inside The Sickness, Behind The Masks
Waaaay back in 2001, I wrote this Slipknot biography for Random House, which told the story of the band's early days. While unofficial, it involved way more exclusive interviews than most unofficial biogs, including lengthy chats with drummer Joey Jordison, producer Ross Robinson and plenty of locals from the band's Des Moines hometown.
The book also had an introduction from Ozzy Osbourne and an afterword from Gene Simmons. Considering that these people are rock icons (and Simmons in particular has a reputation for being a ruthless businessman), neither of these gents could possibly have been easier to deal with. The book has been out of physical print for over 10 years, but the publisher made it available as an ebook in 2011.
